Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a Dewatering Foreman/ Assistant Superintendent on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history, valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. Job Title: Dewatering Foreman/ Assistant Superintendent
Salary: Competitive compensation package based on experience.
The Dewatering Foreman/ Assistant Superintendents are responsible for supervising field crews and overseeing the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of dewatering systems. This combines hands-on field leadership with assistant superintendent responsibilities, including coordinating daily site operations, supporting project execution, maintaining schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of dewatering equipment and groundwater control methods, and the ability to safely manage water and field operations on active construction sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field crews in dewatering operations.
- Coordinate daily work activities to ensure project schedules and production goals are met.
- Install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot dewatering equipment including electric pumps, vacuum pumps, hydraulic pumps, piping systems, and associated components.
- Monitor and manage groundwater and surface water conditions on construction sites to support excavation and construction activities.
- Oversee the installation and operation of wellpoint systems, deep wells, sump pumps, bypass pumping systems, and other groundwater control methods.
- Conduct routine inspections of pumps, piping, discharge systems, and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and toolbox talks.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to maintain project progress.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, water levels, and daily production reports.
- Train and mentor crew members on proper operating procedures, safety practices, and equipment maintenance.
- Respond to emergency situations and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain site operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in dewatering, groundwater control, heavy civil construction, or related field operations.
- Demonstrated experience supervising and managing field crews of 5–10 employees.
- Strong knowledge of electric pumps, vacuum pumps, and hydraulic pumps.
- Strong understanding of construction site water management, groundwater control, and dewatering systems.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and dewatering layouts.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- OSHA 30 Certification required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
