Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for an Embankment Foreman/ Assistant Superintendent on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history, valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. Job Title:  Embankment Foreman/ Assistant Superintendent

Salary:  Competitive compensation package based on experience.

The Embankment Foreman/ Assistant Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing embankment, earthwork, and fill placement operations. This position requires a hands-on leader with extensive experience in grading, fill processing, moisture conditioning, compaction, and quality control testing. The successful candidate will oversee field crews, coordinate equipment and production activities, and ensure embankment construction is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise field crews consisting of 10–20 employees.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily embankment, grading, and earthwork operations.
  • Manage fill placement activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.
  • Monitor and direct moisture conditioning, compaction efforts, and material processing operations.
  • Review and interpret soil testing results, including density testing, moisture content testing, Proctor reports, and gradation reports.
  • Coordinate with quality control personnel to ensure embankment construction meets project standards.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, grading plans, and earthwork requirements.
  • Utilize TOPCON equipment and layout systems for field operations and grade control.
  • Coordinate equipment, labor, and materials to maintain production schedules.
  • Monitor and manage dewatering operations as necessary to support embankment and earthwork activities.
  • Operate and oversee the use of large-diameter pumps and associated dewatering systems.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, production records, and project documentation.
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members to improve safety, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, earthwork, embankment construction, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience managing and supervising crews of 10–20 employees.
  • Strong hands-on experience with grading, fill placement, and earthwork operations.
  • Knowledge of density testing, moisture content testing, and embankment quality control procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret Proctor reports, gradation reports, and soil testing documentation.
  • Experience processing and conditioning fill materials to meet project specifications.
  • Experience using TOPCON equipment and layout systems.
  • Knowledge of dewatering systems and large-diameter pumping equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
