Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a General Foreman on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. This project offers potential Project Team members a valuable opportunity to broaden their professional experience and advance their careers throughout its duration. The CEPP plays a vital role in Everglades restoration, aiming to enhance ecosystem health, improve water storage, and increase resilience to climate change.

Title: General Foreman

Duties and Responsibilities:
The General Foreman – Earthwork & Site is responsible for leading and coordinating earthwork and site crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets. This position provides field leadership and works closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, subcontractors, inspectors, and other project personnel.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily earthwork and site activities, including grading, excavation, embankment, site preparation, drainage, utilities, and related activities.
- Identify and schedule each component of the work and assign appropriate manpower, equipment, and resources to meet daily and weekly production goals.
- Conduct daily crew meetings to communicate work plans, safety expectations, priorities, and production objectives.
- Coordinate and direct multiple jobsite crews, subcontractors, material suppliers, and equipment providers.
- Review contract documents, plans, specifications, and project layouts to ensure work is performed correctly and efficiently.
- Monitor grades, elevations, site layout, and quantities to ensure work meets project requirements.
- Coordinate equipment utilization and material deliveries to maintain productivity and minimize downtime.
- Monitor jobsite activity throughout the day and make adjustments to manpower, equipment, sequencing, and assignments as needed to maintain schedule and budget.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to review progress, production, manpower, equipment needs, and upcoming work.
- Communicate effectively with clients, inspectors, surveyors, subcontractors, and regulatory representatives.
- Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, equipment, materials, production, and jobsite activities.
- Promote and enforce a safe work environment and ensure crews follow company and project safety requirements.
- Identify potential issues or delays and communicate them to project management promptly.
- Develop and maintain daily and weekly work plans based on project schedules and field conditions.
- Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5-10 years of heavy civil construction field experience, with significant experience in earthwork and site development.
- Proven experience supervising and coordinating multiple construction crews.
- Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, embankment, site preparation, drainage, and related earthwork operations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project layouts.
- Ability to effectively coordinate manpower, heavy equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Proficient in written and verbal business communication skills.
- Ability to give and receive written and oral instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with office and field personnel.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and adapt to changing field conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
