Job Title: Commercial Superintendent

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the overall supervision, coordination, and execution of commercial construction activities on assigned projects. The Commercial Superintendent will provide field leadership and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans, specifications, schedules, quality standards, and company policies.

  • Oversee daily field operations and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and field personnel.
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety standards and promote a strong jobsite safety culture.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, look-ahead schedules, and daily/weekly work plans.
  • Monitor critical path activities and address potential delays.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, site logistics, and trade sequencing.
  • Ensure construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and approved submittals.
  • Coordinate commercial building construction, including concrete, structural steel, building envelope, interiors, and MEP systems.
  • Coordinate underground utilities, site development, piping, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems as applicable.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, staffing, productivity, safety, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for project requirements and assist in resolving scope and coordination issues.
  • Inspect work and coordinate required testing and inspections to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Monitor labor productivity and field costs and assist the Project Manager with change orders and budget management.
  • Minimize rework, material waste, and schedule impacts.
  • Prepare accurate daily reports and maintain project records.
  • Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders for field coordination.
  • Communicate project status, issues, and schedule impacts to the Project Manager and leadership.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with punch list, commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience, including significant experience as a Superintendent or equivalent field leadership role.
  • Proven experience with multi-story commercial buildings.
  • Experience with commercial projects ranging from $10M to $100M+ preferred.
  • Experience with underground utilities, site development, piping, and mechanical systems preferred.
  • Experience with concrete, structural steel, and building envelope construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, scheduling, and sequencing.
  • Experience managing multiple subcontractors and trades.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Procore, Primavera P6, or other construction software experience preferred.
  • Construction Management, Engineering, or related degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to move freely throughout an active construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders and walking on uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, or varying shifts as required by project schedules.
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and communicate clearly by telephone and in person
