Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history, valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. This project offers potential Project Team members a valuable opportunity to broaden their professional experience and advance their careers throughout its duration. The CEPP plays a vital role in Everglades restoration, aiming to enhance ecosystem health, improve water storage, and increase resilience to climate change.

Job Title: MechanicalEngineer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily site inspections and prepare detailed reports on mechanical work progress, production, and schedule tracking.
  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems, including piping, pumps, valves, HVAC, and process equipment.
  • Develop and manage mechanical submittals, RFIs, change orders, notifications, and technical correspondence.
  • Coordinate with design engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to resolve mechanical and constructability issues.
  • Support daily, weekly, and monthly coordination meetings with strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Review and interpret mechanical plans, P&IDs, and specifications to ensure compliance with project and client requirements.
  • Obtain and evaluate material and equipment quotes from suppliers; prepare purchase orders for approval.
  • Maintain accurate records of material usage, deliveries, and equipment utilization, ensuring cost codes and documentation are properly tracked.
  • Prepare monthly mechanical progress reports and assist the Project Manager with pay applications.
  • Support equipment and system start-up activities, ensuring proper testing, documentation, and turnover packages.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining construction schedules in Primavera P6.
  • Support and maintain project document control, ensuring all mechanical documentation is up to date in Primavera and Expedition.
  • Contribute to safety initiatives and promote a culture of quality and accountability on site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management (with a mechanical emphasis).
  • Graduate Mechanical Engineer with 2 years of related experience or Undergraduate Mechanical Engineer with 5 years of related experience. 
  • Experience on heavy civil or water infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and other design/scheduling tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working on USACE or other federal heavy civil projects is a plus.
  • Strong ability to multitask, work independently under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Prior field experience with mechanical systems installation, alignment, and commissioning is a plus.
