This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Plant Operator – Soil Cement/RCC to support the operation of a large-scale soil cement and/or Roller-Compacted Concrete (RCC) production plant on a major heavy civil construction project.

The Plant Operator will be responsible for safely operating and monitoring plant equipment, maintaining consistent material production, assisting with troubleshooting, and coordinating with plant management, maintenance, quality control, and field placement crews to meet project production and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor soil cement and/or RCC plant equipment and automated batching systems.
• Monitor plant operations to ensure materials are produced according to approved mix designs and project specifications.
• Control and monitor the flow of soil, aggregates, cement, water, and other materials through the production process.
• Monitor plant gauges, controls, meters, and computerized systems to identify operating issues or abnormal conditions.
• Maintain consistent production rates to support field placement operations and project schedules.
• Perform routine inspections of plant equipment before, during, and after production.
• Monitor material stockpiles, bins, conveyors, silos, feeders, mixers, and other plant components.
• Identify equipment or production problems and communicate issues to the Plant Manager, maintenance personnel, or other appropriate team members.
• Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting, cleaning, adjustments, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with truck drivers and field crews to maintain an efficient flow of material from the plant to the placement area.
• Monitor material production and assist with maintaining accurate production and quantity records.
• Work with Quality Control personnel to support required sampling, testing, and production adjustments.
• Follow approved mix designs, production procedures, and project specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organized plant and work area.
• Follow all company, project, and OSHA safety requirements.
• Participate in required safety meetings, inspections, and training.
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, material issues, and production problems promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or project management team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating heavy civil construction equipment, concrete plants, aggregate plants, asphalt plants, soil cement plants, RCC plants, or similar production facilities.
• Experience operating or monitoring automated batching, mixing, conveying, or material-handling equipment preferred.
• Basic understanding of construction materials and production processes.
• Ability to read and follow operating procedures, mix designs, and project specifications.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify basic equipment issues.
• Ability to work effectively with plant personnel, mechanics, QC personnel, truck drivers, and field crews.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor multiple plant functions simultaneously.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment, conveyors, mixers, cement systems, and other industrial equipment.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, nights, and varying shifts as required by project operations.
• Previous experience on heavy civil, dam, reservoir, embankment, or other large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred.

• Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
