Job Title:  Electrical Project Manager

Overview

The Electrical Project Manager is fully accountable for the financial performance, execution, and overall management of one or more multi-million-dollar electrical construction projects within heavy civil infrastructure. This role has full authority over project planning, implementation, subcontractor management, and electrical scope execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable codes and standards.

This position requires frequent travel across Texas; candidates may reside anywhere within the DFW Area.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and manage electrical construction projects in alignment with contract requirements, engineering standards, and company objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of electrical scope including power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and installation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), project specifications, safety regulations, or any other applicable codes.
  • Lead project execution from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to schedule.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Review and approve subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and material procurement for electrical components.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring performance aligns with scope, schedule, and contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate with Superintendents and field teams to resolve issues between design and field execution.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, projections, and progress updates to senior leadership.
  • Ensure accuracy of labor, equipment, and cost reporting systems (e.g., Viewpoint).
  • Track RFIs, submittals, and change orders related to electrical scope.
  • Act as primary liaison with owners, engineers, inspectors, and regulatory agencies for all electrical-related matters.
  • Communicate delays, changes, and impacts in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety, ensuring all OSHA and company safety protocols are followed.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select qualified electrical subcontractors and vendors.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to Project Engineers and support staff.
  • Proficient in water treatment facilities, pump stations, and large diameter piping projects.
  • Understand, lead and manage project startups and and turnover to clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 8–10+ years of experience in electrical construction, with a strong background in heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale electrical scopes within complex construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical systems.
  • Experience with project management and construction software such as Primavera P6, Viewpoint, Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, and/or similar systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and subcontractors.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification (within the last five years) or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or electrical contractor license preferred.
