Position:  Project Manager

Salary:  Based upon qualifications and experience level. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This senior level management position oversees and is ultimately accountable for planning and effectively implementing field labor staffing, construction means and methods, and coordinating equipment resources to execute the activities required to complete the projects successfully.  In addition, this position is responsible for understanding the quality control and assurance requirements to ensure the project is constructed according to the project documents. 

Other position responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with the project and corporate level safety professionals to lead the effort to create, monitor, evaluate and implement work practices developed to eliminate job hazards and promote a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for understanding the tasks required to perform the work on a daily basis and directing the means and methods necessary to achieve this work so that all craft labor has the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve production goals.
  • Collaborate with Thalle internal resources to understand and satisfy project field labor requirements including:
  • Coordinate with project team and schedule to project initial and ongoing project labor needs.
  • Coordinate with Thalle’s Construction Manager to understand and utilize available internal company labor resources.
  • Coordinate with Thalle’s human resources department to seek external candidates required to fulfill the project labor requirements.
  • Collaborate with Thalle’s Construction Manager and department managers to forecast and schedule equipment needs to ensure proper coordination and arrival of equipment at the project site.
  • As a member of the Operations Team, participate in the management of daily operational issues, short and long-term planning, resource coordination, identifying and improving procedures, project staffing and ongoing project support.
  • Complete daily reporting requirements summarizing field activity descriptions, labor and equipment production reporting and costing, subcontractor activities, documentation of changes and required action items.
  • Complete weekly short-term plans that summarize current and projected work activities and labor and equipment requirements.
  • Prepare for and attend both internal and owner required progress meetings.
  • Conduct meetings as necessary to provide coordination and direction to subcontractors and field staff.
  • Planning and scheduling of subcontractor and material needs.
  • Field coordination with on-site subcontractors and material deliveries.
  • Ensure company policies and operational procedures are understood, and consistently implemented and adhered to.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum experience of 15 years in earthwork construction, experience in high hazard dam construction with dam heights exceeding 50-feet and elements of work including dewatering, mass excavation, chimney and filter drain installation, geotechnical instrumentation monitoring, drainpipe system installation, erosion and sediment control, moisture conditioning of stockpiled material for placement in compacted fills and site restoration.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and statistical data, interpret construction drawings, architectural drawings and specifications, and legal documents.
  • Prior experience effectively leading construction operations.
  • Ability to read, understand and execute critical path method schedules.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Advanced knowledge of the heavy civil construction industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
