Thalle Construction Co. Inc. (“Thalle”) is seeking a Concrete Finisher. The Concrete Finisher will report to the Superintendent and work closely with and support the operations team, interact with a variety of staff at all levels and uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located in Terrell, Texas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Spread, level, and smooth concrete using hand tools.
  • Set forms that hold concrete in place.
  • Finish concrete surfaces.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges using tool and straightedge.
  • Build the molds that retain wet concrete in the construction of concrete structures.
  • Anchor and brace forms and other structures in place, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers. 
  • Assemble / Fastn material to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. 
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to direct pouring concrete and move chut to direct concrete on forms.
  • Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete, and waterproof or restore surfaces.
  • Wet concrete surface and rub with stone to smooth surface and obtain specified finish.
  • Fill holes and cracks with grout or slurry and smooth using trowel.
  • Push roller over surface to embed chips.
  • Build wooden molds, and clamp molds around area to be repaired using hand tools.
  • Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to receive written or oral instructions. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with field and office personnel. 
  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others.
  • Experience placing conrete preferred.
  • Rebar work experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Work long shifts.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
  • Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area up to 1/2 mile.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment drug screen.
