Job Title: Commissioning Manager

Salary: Competitive compensation package based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Commissioning Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the startup and commissioning phases of our wastewater treatment plant. This role ensures all systems and components are installed, tested, and operational per project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of all commissioning activities for the wastewater treatment facility.
  • Develop detailed startup and commissioning plans, commissioning procedures, and test protocols.
  • Manage coordination between construction, engineering, operations, vendors, and the client to ensure seamless transition from
  • construction to operation.
  • Supervise startup and commissioning personnel, including technicians, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Oversee system inspections, pre-functional checklists, functional testing, process testing, and performance verification.
  • Identify and resolve issues or deficiencies in equipment installations, controls, and process systems during startup.
  • Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities, including reports, field notes, punch lists, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Support the development of operations manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training programs for plant operators.
  • Facilitate and deliver operator training on system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate final system acceptance, including turnover packages, documentation, and warranty support.
  • Monitor project budget, schedule, and manpower for startup and commissioning scope.
  • Provide regular status updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • Knowledgeable in the construction and operation of wastewater treatment plants
  • Knowledgeable in pre-commissioning and commissioning processes (e.g. functional testing, wet-run testing, and active operation)
  • Knowledgeable in SCADA system integration, verification, and troubleshooting
  • Knowledgeable in the preparation of implementation of commissioning plans
  • Familiarity with close-out documentation and the project close-out process (e.g. O&M manuals, warranties)
  • Familiarity with construction scheduling practices
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate efforts between owner, engineers, contractors, consultants and technicians
  • Willingness to work with the entire project team with a goal of successful completion of the project
